Norbert Evans was born on July 8, 1946 to Arnold and Catherine (Masuen) Evans in Le Mars. He was raised on the family farm and attended grade school in Oyens and graduated from Le Mars Community High School. Norbert worked for a short time as an auto mechanic before beginning a 40+ year career at Diamond Vogel and Spray Equipment in industrial sales.  He officially retired in 2019.

Norbert was united in marriage to JoAnn Carol Ostert on May 26, 1973 at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. They made their home in Le Mars and were blessed with one daughter, Jennie. Outside of work Norbert worked on various woodworking, house, and recreational projects. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Chloé, growing up and attending all her school events, concerts, and piano competitions.

Norbert enjoyed fishing and handcrafted projects. He loved going on antique tractor rides with his brothers and collecting model tractors. Taking care of his cars throughout his life was a source of pride. Norbert was a long time member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

Norbert and JoAnn enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the United States and Mexico. Some of their most memorable trips were to Hawaii for their 25th wedding anniversary and to Washington D.C. to watch Chloé compete in the National History Day competition.

Norbert will be remembered by all for his quick wit, do-it-yourself attitude, and sensible advice. He was the go-to person to fix anything and everything, he always found a way. Norbert was the kind of loved one and friend to always be there to lend a helping hand and make all our lives brighter. We will never be able to express how much he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
