Obituary

Orval Siebens , 90, of rural Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Accura HealthCare of Le Mars.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville, Iowa. Reverend Shawn Brooks will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Post 724 of Brunsville, Iowa will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Orval Lester Siebens was born April 15, 1929 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of John and Helena (Rieken) Siebens. He attended school in Brunsville, Iowa. Following his schooling, he began farming with his father near Brunsville.

He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Plymouth County, and continued farming.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Hansen on January 9, 1965 in Odebolt, Iowa. The couple farmed and raised livestock in Washington Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa. Barbara passed away September 4, 2007. In 2014, Orval moved to Park Place Estates in Le Mars. In October of 2016, he became a resident at Accura HealthCare in Le Mars.

Orval was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. He helped with the building of the new church. He was also a member of the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Post 724 in Brunsville. Over the years, Orval enjoyed going to sale barns and taking care of his kittens. He also enjoyed going for coffee and visiting with people. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his nephews: Bob Beach of Springfield, MO, LaDon Mott of Le Mars, IA, Scott Linstrand of Le Mars, IA, Tom Linstrand of Le Mars, IA, and Bob Krogman of California; his nieces: Cathy Gray of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Diane Pike of Le Mars, IA, Shirley Johnson of Portland, OR, and Lisa Fry of Minnesota; and many great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; two sisters: Marlis Linstrand and Margaret Krogman; and a brother: John Siebens.
