Patricia Hunter, 68, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars following a brief battle with lung cancer.

A Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Graveside service will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Patricia Elaine Wiersma, the daughter of Bernard and Hanna (Prins) Wiersma, was born on August 25, 1955, in Sibley, Iowa. She attended school in Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School.

Patricia worked various jobs following high school.  She later made a career as a C.N.A. and dearly loved caring for her residents. She did this for many years until she was able to retire in 2019. Her most important job was being a homemaker for her children. She was a mother to 5, Chris, Cory, Elijah, Tyler and Suzie. She enjoyed music and being outside. She was a Minnesota Vikings and Texas Longhorn fan. She had several cats throughout her life that were her dear companions.  At the time of her passing, she was widowed as her husband Larry passed away in 2009. She enjoyed a quiet life after retirement, spending time with her family and grandchildren whenever possible. She enjoyed cooking and watching old westerns on T.V. Her pot roast and fried chicken will be sorely missed as will her bright eyes and contagious smile and laughter.

Survivors include her children: Cory (Kriston) Schrick of Midland, TX, Tyler Sanow of Washington, and Suzie (Tommy) Craig of Alton, IA; her grandchildren: Season, Braylon, Jordan, Tessa, Tyler Jr, Nataleigh, Noah, Nate, and Sailor; her siblings: Robert (Paula) Wiersma, Laurence (Ruth Ann) Wiersma, Paul (Glee) Wiersma, Jim (Kathy) Wiersma, Mary (Ray) Barcelou, Walter (Bonnie) Wiersma, Roger (Deborah) Wiersma, Mark (Lori) Wiersma, and Barney (Gina) Wiersma; a sister in law, Helinda Wiersma; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Hunter; two sons: Elijah Sanow and Chris Sanow; and a brother, David Wiersma.
