Patricia Hughes, 79, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Mike Metten will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time and following the services during a reception at the funeral home. Patricia Ann Van Voorst, the daughter of Andrew and Darlene (Beach) Van Voorst, was born on March 24, 1945, in Le Mars, Iowa. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1963.

Following her schooling, she went to work for the DX Truckstop in Le Mars. While there, she met a truck driver by the name of Don Hughes. They were united in marriage on April 22, 1966, in Yankton, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Le Mars.

Pat went to work as a teller for the First Federal Savings Bank in Le Mars. Later, she worked as an administrative assistant for State Farm agents, Leo Flaherty, Jim Flaherty, and lastly for Ken Wilson until her retirement. Don passed away on December 8, 2017. In 2019, Pat was fortunate enough to adopt two children, Isabella and Leon. She enjoyed her time with them and taking them to all of their activities.

Over the years, Pat enjoyed camping, decorating, and attending garage sales. She and Don also enjoyed taking motorcycle rides.

Survivors include her two children, Isabella and Leon, both at home; her siblings: Evelyn Rodenburgh, Linda Van Voorst (Phillip Meier), and Denny (Cheryl) Van Voorst, all of Le Mars; her step children: Patricia (Howard) Baxter, Marla (Brad) Barfield, Doni Dee (Arden) Stokes, Don Jr (Yong) Hughes, Susan (Kevin) Samek, Robert (Janice) Hughes, and Sandra Graf; and several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Hughes Sr; a nephew, Dean Rodenburgh; and a niece, Stephanie Van Voorst.
