Phyllis Meister, 83 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars with Pastor Timothy Geitz officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden in rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars or ALS Research.

Phyllis June Dunne was born on February 24, 1939 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars to William and Edna (Groepper) Dunne. She attended country school and graduated from Union Consolidated High School in 1957.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Jerry Meister on August 13, 1958 at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa.

In 1962, Phyllis began working as the deputy county treasurer for Plymouth County. She worked there for 40 years until she retired in 2002.

Phyllis was a long time member at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars where she participated in Rachel's Circle and many bible studies. Her favorite time was spent with family, especially her granddaughters. She loved to take them shopping! Phyllis never missed an event that involved family; she and Jerry made every effort to attend every wedding, birthday, graduation, and more, no matter the distance. Jerry and Phyllis traveled extensively across the United States. They also enjoyed playing golf and enjoyed their Friday night league with friends.

Phyllis is survived by her son: Randy (Judy) Meister of Lee's Summit, MO; two granddaughters: Jana (Nick) Enevoldsen of Raymore, MO, and Danica (Dustin) McWhorter of Raymore, MO; great grandson, Jace McWhorter;  siblings: Ron Dunne of Westminster, CO, and Bill (Ann) Dunne of Kingsley, IA; siblings in law: Caryl Dunne of Sioux City, IA, Kenneth (Betty) Meister of Wilmar, MN, Mark (Joan) Meister of Correctionville, IA, and Dan (Pat) Meister of Pierson, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Dunne; parents in law, Ralph and Maxine Meister; husband, Jerry; son, Scott Meister; and brother, Jerry Dunne.
