Randy Henry Plueger was born on February 3, 1958 in Akron, Iowa to Darrell and Darlene (Cassens) Plueger. He was raised in rural Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1976. After graduating, Randy began working for Sheveland Welding in Akron.  He then owned and operated Randy's Standard Co-op and later, Plueger Co-op, both in Akron.  After selling the business, he started farming and began working at Wells Blue Bunny in Le Mars. Randy grew crops as well as raised cattle and hogs. Randy eventually retired from Wells as the maintenance manager after 25 years of service.

Randy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marla Schulte, on June 29, 2019. They were married just off the Hinton Golf Course overlooking the 5th hole.

Randy was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa where he was baptized and confirmed. In his youth he enjoyed drag races in Marion, South Dakota. His love for cars continued throughout his life, some of his favorites being a '69 Road Runner and '69 Chevelle.  While working in Akron, he was a long-time volunteer for the Akron Fire Department, served on the Akron City Council, and was a board member and president for the Akron Golf Course. Randy loved sports and especially enjoyed cheering on the Miami Dolphins and Iowa Hawkeyes.  Randy was also a gifted handy man, dabbling in some home construction and remodeling.

Randy was a kind and friendly man who was ready to help anyone who needed it. He was also the life of the party – always full of laughter and had a great sense of humor. He was a people-person without trying, turning regular moments into great memories. He will be greatly missed.

Randy is survived by his wife, Marla; children: Heather (Shaun Miller) Rees of Sioux City, IA, Brooke (Jon) Gilbert of Sioux City, IA, Linsey (Dan) Gilbert of Sioux City, IA, and Brandon 'BJ' (Kelsey) Plueger of Hinton, IA; step son, Austin Wiemers; grandchildren: Aidan Rees, Avrie Rees, Appley Rees, Ace Gilbert, Shelby Gilbert, Reyna Gilbert, Jazlyn Gilbert, Cruz Gilbert, Swayze Gilbert, Ophelia Plueger and Hazel Plueger; his beloved dog, Hank; siblings: Ron Plueger, Bev (Walt) Wendel, and Deb (Doug) Boetger; brother in law, Dean (Barb) Varenhorst; several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
