Randy Ruggles, 66, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at his home in Le Mars surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Clint Abbott, a classmate and close friend of Randy will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of Le Mars will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with social distancing will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Randy Ruggles was born April 6, 1954 in Santa Anna, California, the son of Raymond and Edith (Kunchick) Ruggles. As a young child, he moved with his family to Michigan where he attended school in Newaygo.
On June 19, 1974, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country while being stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on April 28, 1977.
Following his discharge, he made his home in Mesa, Arizona. He was united in marriage to Connie Peterson on December 21, 1980 in Apache Junction, Arizona. Randy worked as a painter for his father's business, Ruggles and Sons. He later went to work for CLC Painting and then retired after 38 years. In 2011, they moved to Le Mars, Iowa to be closer to their family.
Randy enjoyed fishing, camping, riding his ATV, playing yard games, and family barbeques. He also enjoyed bowling and putting together jigsaw puzzles. His favorite time of the year was Christmas. He loved to decorate his house with lights and décor. Family was the most important part of his life. He loved the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his faithful companion, "Sassy".
Survivors include his wife, Connie of Le Mars, IA; 5 children: Trish (John) McCannon of Le Mars, IA, Tanya (Brandyn) Doss of Colorado, Randy A. (Jenny) Ruggles of Colorado, Lisa (Steven) Oats of Pennsylvania, Randy T. (Renee) Ruggles; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; in laws: Allan (Marti) Peterson, John Peterson, Kenny (Debbie) Peterson, Ralph (Lisa) Peterson, Tracy Kling, and David Kling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith Ruggles; his mother in law, Kay Beeswy; his daughter, Brandy Rosemier; a brother, Rodney Ruggles; a brother in law, Mike Peterson; and two grandchildren, Randi Lynn Doss and Jeremy Thomas Ruggles.
