Rebecca Moore was born on September 7, 1952 in Georgia to Dr. Jack and Ruth (Daland) Moore. Becky's father was a Lieutenant Colonel and chaplain with the United States Air Force and their family traveled all over the world during his military service. They lived in Massachusetts, Japan, Guam, California, Holland and Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas, Becky met Paul Bernard who was stationed at the same base. They were united in marriage on May 21, 1976 and settled in Akron. They moved to Arizona for a short time but returned to Akron in 1988 and made Akron their forever home. Becky and Paul had three children: Ben, Jenny, and Morgan. Becky attended the Le Mars Beauty College and worked with Kerry Heeren at the Lock Shop in Akron for many years. She also worked as a CNA for the Akron Care Center for four years before retiring due to health issues.
Becky was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and served as the treasurer for several years. Becky loved working in her yard and in her flower gardens. The squirrels and birds were always welcomed and well fed. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved to decorate the house to add to the joy of the season. Shopping was a passion of Becky's. Few could keep pace with her, especially at Younkers! Theater events, plays, music festivals and Operas were a highlight for Becky. Her debut as Cleopatra in the Akron Theater was one of her fond memories.
Becky had a beautiful smile . She shared it willingly with everyone she came in contact with and always left them with a smile on their face!
Becky is survived by her husband of almost 45 years, Paul; children: Ben (Amanda Ripka) Bernard, Jenny (Matt Boettger) Bernard, and Morgan (Johnny Clarey) Bernard; grandchildren: Caleb Bernard, Alex Bernard, Aria Bernard, Albany Waterbury, Jordyn Cleaveland, Riley Ripka, Logan Schwery, Cameron Mueller, Tanner Klemme, Emma Klemme, Dominic Klemme, Vincent Waterman, Maximus Clarey, and brothers: David (Karen) Moore of Massachusetts and Michael Moore of Rhode Island; sisters in law: Kathy Beacom, Linda (James) Braun, Jeane (Terry) Stinton, Lori (Bill) Campbell, and Lisa (Bernie) Manley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
