Robert Fletcher , 73, of Akron, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at his home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa.  Pastor Susan Juilfs from Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Akron.  Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Robert Fletcher, the son of Elmo and Naomi (Steinert) Fletcher, was born February 20, 1949, in Akron, Iowa.  He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron.  He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School.  He attended Morningside College in Sioux City and graduated with a degree in business.

Following college, he began farming with his father.  They farmed in Union County, South Dakota and Plymouth County, Iowa for many years.

He was united in marriage to Gloria Payne Kaberna in December of 1984 in Vermillion, South Dakota.  They made their home on a farm in Union County, South Dakota.

Farming was Bob's life, he enjoyed everything about it.  He also enjoyed hunting, tinkering with machinery, and reading.  He and Gloria enjoyed spending time in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria of Akron; 2 stepsons: David (Janet Rohmiller) Kaberna of Elk Point, SD, and Damon (Tonya) Kaberna of Commerce City, CO; 2 sisters: Sharon (Marlyn) Jackson of Plymouth, MN, and Nancy (Floyd) Enstrom of Cherokee, IA; his close friend, Dennis Vesly of Richland, SD; and several in laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Naomi Fletcher; and his father and mother-in-law, Merrill and Ila Payne.
