Robert 'Bob' Wayne Gibson, 69 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m., and continue until the service time, on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Living Faith Lutheran Church in Le Mars, The Alzheimer's Association of Siouxland, or St. Croix Hospice.

Robert Wayne Gibson Jr was born on August 15, 1955 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Robert Sr. and Doris (Harmon) Gibson. He attended Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, AR where he participated in the band and graduated in 1973.  He then attended Arkansas State University where he was a member of the Arkansas State band and TKE fraternity; he proudly shared that Elvis Presley was an honorary brother of his TKE chapter. He graduated with his Master of Business in1984.

Bob loved music and originally entered college hoping to be a band director, only to discover he was tone-deaf. He enjoyed being the DJ at parties in college to share his love of music. His fraternity brothers said he always had a great music collection. Bob's favorite was The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, and he'd sing along (albeit off-key) to almost all of his songs.

Bob's career took him to jobs in Memphis, TN, Springdale, AR, Atlanta, GA, back to Jonesboro, AR, and finally Le Mars, IA. Bob met his future wife, Debbie Gabel, in Springdale, AR. They married in 1990 and Bob's pride and joy, Tyler, was born in 1992.

Bob was a big kid at heart and he loved to celebrate Christmas; he would carefully and tastefully decorate and light up the house every year.

Bob enjoyed attending Tyler's sporting events, playing golf, and traveling to Northwest Arkansas, Memphis, and Chicago. He was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks whether it be football, basketball, or baseball. One of his favorite memories was going to the College World Series to watch the Hogs. When Tyler was in high school, his friends would often gather at the house because, Rev (as they called him), was barbecuing ribs or pork shoulder for them.

Most of all, Bob loved his family and his Lord & Savior. Standing at 6'5", Bob will be remembered as a kind soul with a big smile – a true gentle giant.

Bob is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie; his son, Tyler and his wife, Imani, of Chicago, IL; aunt and uncle, Jane and James Sullivan; sisters in law: Wanda Oltmanns of Akron, IA and Sondra Gabel of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews: Kelly (Dorothy) Gabel of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Deb) Oltmanns of Akron, IA, Shelly Gabel of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sally Oltmanns of Windom, MN; seven great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews; and other extended relatives.

Bob is preceded by his parents; mother in law, Loris Heeren; father in law, Gene Gabel; his step father in law, Herman Heeren; brother, James Gibson; brothers in law: Gene Gabel and Wendell Oltmanns; and nephew, Kevin Oltmanns.
