Robert W. 'Bob' Scheitler, 77, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with Lewy Body, a Parkinson's Disorder.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars. Father Tim Pick will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
He was born on July 30, 1948, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Raymond H. and Charlene H. (Streff) Scheitler. He grew up on a farm northeast of Le Mars. He graduated from Remsen St. Mary's High School in 1966 and attended Westmar College in Le Mars, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Bob began working at Primebank (formerly Le Mars Savings Bank) upon his graduation from college in 1970.
In 1970, he married Ann Bohlke and they had two daughters, Amy and Susan. In 1993, he married Becky Masuen Reinholdt whose husband was deceased and he adopted her son, Jesse.
At the time of retirement in 2014, he was Senior Vice President in the Loan Department at Primebank in Le Mars. Bob was a graduate of the Colorado School of Banking and the Iowa Ag Credit School.
He was a past member of the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce Board and was an active member of the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee. He was a former member of the Le Mars Civil Service Board. He had also been a member of the St. James Catholic Church Finance Board and the Endowment Board as well as the Treasurer of the Le Mars Knights of Columbus for 13 years. In 2014, he received the Service to Agriculture Award presented by the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce, recognizing his service and support of the Agricultural community.
Bob enjoyed being outdoors, golfing and biking. Spending time with family brought him great joy. He was a man of integrity, honesty, and compassion. He made everyone around him feel important.
He is survived by his wife, Becky; daughters, Amy Scheitler of Kansas City and Susan (Scheitler) Tarantino of Fort Worth, TX; a son, Jesse (Adrienne) Scheitler of Rapid City, SD, and their children, Talia, Sean, and Ian; a brother, Dale Scheitler (Ellen Clark) of Le Mars, IA; sisters, Jean Heeren of Le Mars, IA, Karen (Steve) Drum of Leesburg, FL, and Lori (Tony) Bohlke of Le Mars, IA; brother in law, Mike Masuen of Le Mars, IA; a sister in law, Vikki Masuen of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Charlene Scheitler; brothers in law, Dave Heeren and Mark Masuen; nephew, Jason Heeren; and his father and mother-in-law, Dick and Celesta Masuen.
