Obituary

Rodney L Reoh, 89 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Akron. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Rodney LaVerne Reoh was born on January 1, 1933 in Willow Lake, Collins Township, South Dakota to Leon and Jennie (Huisenga) Reoh. He attended and graduated in 1951 from Garden City High School in Garden City, South Dakota. After graduation, Rod then served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he began training and working for the New York Central Railroad. Rod was united in marriage to Nancy Woodland on March 24, 1957 in Clark, South Dakota. They moved to Griffith, Indiana where Rod worked as a train dispatcher for 15 years. In 1970, Rod and Nancy moved to Akron, Iowa where they purchased the Ford dealership. Rod owned and operated the dealership for 17 years before selling the business to Dirks Motors. Rod worked for Dirks for a few years before officially retiring.

Rod enjoyed golfing, washing and driving his antique cars, dancing, playing cards and going pheasant hunting with his friends. Rod and Nancy also enjoyed traveling; taking many stateside and international trips and also wintering in Arizona. Nancy passed away on January 30, 1999.

Rod was a longtime member of the Hoschler American Legion in Akron and always enjoyed dealing cards at the Veteran's Day fundraiser. Rod will be remembered for his great sense of humor!

Rod was united in marriage to Eunice (Hillrichs) Klemme on June 18, 2005. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona for several years. Eunice passed away on March 15, 2018.

Rod is survived by his son, Lee Reoh of Gretna, NE; grandchildren: Carleigh Reoh and Caleb Reoh, both of Gretna, NE; step children: Lynette (Howard) Altena of Doon, Iowa, LaNay (Steve) Welch of Akron, Iowa, Greg (Paulette) Klemme of Akron, Iowa, and Matthew (Lori) Klemme of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; 10 step grandchildren and 19 step great grandchildren: Tricia (Brian) Mulder and their children: Kaylee, Tristan, Jace, Rashana, and Brock Mulder, Troy (Michelle) Altena and their children: Jacob, Tyson, Ethan, and Levi Altena, Evan (Kim) Altena and their children: Taylor, Kaysha, and Abigail Altena, Jerod (Tracy) Welch and their children, Ali Welch and Tyler (Devyn) Welch, Jennifer Welch and her daughter, Madison Schoen, Robert Welch and his children: Hannah, Hunter, and Harper Welch, Meagan (Travis) Moffatt and their son, Tragan Moffatt, Kaitlan (Kevin) Huggenberger, Seth Klemme, Connor Prescott, and Kelsey Prescott; two step great grandchildren: Lukas and Isabella Huggenberger; sister, Leora Thomas of Lakewood, CO; sisters in law: Barbara Clausen, Candace (Tim) Simonson, and Marivonne Bastian; several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Rod is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; wife, Eunice; step great granddaughter, Anna Marie Schoen; brother, Harold (Blenda) Reoh; and brothers in law: Tommy Thomas, Julius Clausen, Derald Bastian, and Robert Woodland.
