Ronald Van Gorkom, 74 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery – Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Ronald Lee Van Gorkom was born on May 28, 1947 in Le Mars to Merinas and Edna (Baumann) Van Gorkom. He graduated from Central High School in Le Mars in 1966. Ron enlisted in the United States Army on September 7, 1966 and was honorably discharged on July 28, 1968. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

Ron worked in construction building grain silos. He enjoyed traveling the country by motorcycle and was a member of the American Legion and American Legion Riders.

Ron is survived by two sisters Karen Van Gorkom and Shirley (Steve) Augsburger; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Jerry Van Gorkom and Merle Van Gorkom.
