Ronald Olson , 78, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Ronald Wayne Olson, the son of John and Mina Olson, was born February 23, 1944, in Onawa, Iowa.  He grew up in the Sioux City area and attended school in Sioux City.

Following his schooling, he worked various jobs in Sioux City, including Sioux Motor Express and Peterbilt.

He was united in marriage to Mary Schlichte on April 27, 1967 at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

The couple made their home in Sioux City.  They later moved to Olathe, Kansas, where Ron worked as a shop foreman for OTRX Trucking for several years.  They moved to Fitzgerald, Georgia, where Ron worked for General Motors for a short time before retiring.  After retirement, they moved to Le Mars to be closer to family.

Ron enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Le Mars, IA; 3 daughters: Rhonda Olson of Le Mars, Jennifer Geringer of Le Mars, and Nicky (Scott) Armon of Shawnee Mission, KS; two sisters in law: Sheryl Olson and Brenda Olson, both of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers: Merlin, Dale, Jim, Vern, and Jerry; and a sister: Iona Wood.
