Schera Lou (Ledgerwood) Kraft, 85, of Le Mars, Iowa, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, grateful to have had the privilege to have been loved by her.

Schera was born to Guy and Aneta (Porsch) Ledgerwood of Kingsley on April 28, 1938. Although she was an only child, and very much a "Daddy's Girl," she was raised with several of her cousins that her parents too in. They became the siblings she never had.
Schera graduated from Kingsley Community School in May of 1956 and on June 3rd of that same year, she married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Kraft. They were never apart from that day forward. They lived in Sioux City, Kingsley, Luverne, MN, and Inwood, IA, before they made Le Mars permanent home.
Dick and Schera ran the Cue for a while before they opened their upholstery and tropical fish business. Dick's Upholstery and Tropical Fish operated until Dick's retirement in 2001. Dick passed away on June 7, 2009.
Through all these years together they became foster parents to several children, giving them the love and security, they deserved. Many of these boys still stay in contact with mom and are a part of our family. One of the foster girls still lives with their daughter. She has been part of our family for 42 years.
Schera was kind and loving, and the best mom anyone could ask for. She instilled in her children integrity, strength, compassion, and a loving heart. She was her daugther's best friend and confidant and always the most fun to shop and travel with.
Honored to be her children are Deb (Floyd) Fiedler, Terri (Jeff) Brown, and Brad (Staci) Kraft; her lovingly spoiled grandchildren: Heather (David Lenninger) Fiedler, and their children, Tresa, Chance Pick, and Kyra Fiedler; Justin (Kristina) Fiedler and their children, Riley and Jashua Fielder, Thomas and Cooper McKinney, and Zach Fiedler; Coleton (Molly Miller) Brown and their children, Jackson Robbins, Norah, Savannah, Calum Brown, and Sydney Brown; Danielle (Tom) Magnuson and their son, Preston Magnuson; very special great grandsons, Jaziah and Jakou Fiedler; her special daughter, Karen Jensen; many foster sons that she loved dearly; and her foster daughter, Sherri Altena Boone and her children, Ashley, Richard, and Amber Altena.
Those who were waiting to take her to her heavenly home are her husband, Richard Kraft; her parents, Guy and Aneta Ledgerwood; all of her in laws and her beloved grandson, Chance Pick; her special foster sons, Tim Altena, Lyle Feenstra, Glen Heuer, Bill Frasier, Chris Delperdang, and Corey Lewis.
A heartfelt thank-you to her hospice team, Amanda, Shelia, and Tabitha. You are most certainly angels on earth. We could not have kept mom home without you. Your tender care was so appreciated. Amanda, just thank you for everything.
