Scott Eugene Lauters was born on January 30, 1956 in Le Mars, Iowa to Eugene and Janet (Harrison) Lauters. He was raised in Le Mars where he graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1974. Scott continued his education at the University of South Dakota – Springfield and then moved back to Le Mars.

As a young child, Scott already had a knack for working with tools and machinery. He built a treehouse from scrap lumber and would convert old lawnmowers into go-karts with modified engines. His talents continued through his adulthood and shaped his working years. Scott was mechanically inclined and enjoyed the challenge of construction and repair work. Scott worked a variety of positions over the years, first working in silo construction and elevator repair. He also worked in maintenance for Wells Dairy for over 15 years and for BoDeans over 13 years.

Scott was united in marriage to Becky Bennett and they had two children: Eric and Kara. They later divorced.

Scott was a people person, always friendly and sociable. He enjoyed the simple things in life but was always up for an adventure. He knew no strangers and made many connections over the years.

Scott met Julie (Augustine) Weiler in 2013 and they were inseparable. Where you found one, you found the other. They enjoyed taking trips, spending time with their friends, or just spending the day on the golf course. They were married on August 3, 2022.

Scott enjoyed the outdoors; he loved trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was an avid Sooners and Seahawks fan. He also enjoyed playing cards and winning at pinocle and euchre. Scott also played third base for a fast pitch softball team; his teammates were friends turned family. They played games and tournaments all over NWIA.

Scott is survived by his wife, Julie; children: Eric Lauters of Le Mars, IA, Kara Rollinger of Le Mars, IA, Sadie Weiler of Le Mars, IA, and Alie Weiler of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Kaiden Jackson, Grifynn Rollinger and Archer Rollinger; shot-gun rider and beloved canine companion, Tess; sisters: Vicky Arens of Le Mars, IA and her daughters: Laura (Brent) Rickabaugh & family, Christina (Eric) Kellen & family, Alison (Jeremy) McPherson & family; Beth Edmonds of Le Mars, IA and her daughters: Charlotte 'Chuck' (Steven) Villareal & sons, Claire 'Clarence' Edmonds; Amy (Andre) Skov of Le Mars, IA and her family: Lexa (Pierce) Almond & daughter, Luke Skov, Metta Skov, Mya Skov; father in law, Thomas 'Tom' Augustine; and other extended relatives.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Lauters; mother, Janet (Harrison) Borchers; brother in law, James Matthew Edmonds; paternal grandparents: Frank and Laura Lauters; maternal grandparents: Eugene and Amelia Harrison; mother in law, Sandy Augustine. Scott is also reunited with his faithful hunting dogs, Rags and Patches.
