Shelly Trowbridge, 59 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral Service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron with Pastor Trish Underberg officiating. A private family burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and will continue until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ava's House (1320 W 17th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57104).

Shelly Lynn Trowbridge was born on June 11, 1963 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Jon and Marlyn (Mugge) Trowbridge. Their family traveled for Jon's work, but Shelly spent most of her school-aged years in Nashua, Iowa and graduated from high school in 1982. Shelly later moved to Akron, Iowa in 1994 and recently made her home in Hawarden, Iowa.

After high school graduation Shelly worked a few various jobs including housekeeping in a hospital and in meat packing plants. She later went back to school at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City and graduated as a CNC machinist. She was a CNC machinist at Rosenboom Machine and Tool in Sheldon, Iowa and Prince Hydraulics in North Sioux City. Shelly also worked for Higman Sand and Gravel in Akron and The Other Bar & Grill in Hawarden, Iowa. Shelly was currently employed at Heyl Truck Lines in Akron where she worked for the last 14 years, mainly in the claims department.

At a young age, Shelly worked alongside her family on their farm, the oldest of seven children. She grew up knowing how to be tough and had a strong work ethic. In her high school years, she was a member of the infamous 'Naughty Nine' – a group of friends who were thick as thieves and tough as nails.

Shelly loved her family and her friends; her favorite time was spent having a good time with those she loved. She made friends easily and was always up for a party or adventure. She loved any reason to travel or hit the road for a get-away. She enjoyed playing darts, going to concerts, camping and boating. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye's fan as well. She liked to read, especially the Harry Potter series, watch Netflix, and keep up with trendy TikToks.

Shelly is survived by her four children: Lance (Tammi) Vossberg, Amanda Younie, Dakota Pangburn, and Jade (Marcus) Morehead; grandchildren: Landyn and Addison Vossberg, Kayghen, Marshall, and Mason Morehead, Christopher and Taylor Schmidt, and Emma, Riley, and Payton Younie; mother, Marlyn Trowbridge; sibilngs: Mark (Dawn) Trowbridge, Jon (Jennifer) Trowbridge, Wendy (Bob) Shivley, Mathew (Martina) Trowbridge, Luke (Maria) Trowbridge, and Heather (Seth) Dixon; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives

Shelly is preceded in death by her father, Jon Trowbridge.
