Sheryl Leila Schulz was born on March 19, 1945 in Le Mars, Iowa to Ivan and Elvira (Utesch) Schulz. She attended and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1963. After graduating, she worked for Le Mars Mutual. On April 3, 1965, Sheryl was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Warren Oetken. She then stayed at home and raised their four children: Jeff, Lori, Stacie, and Kelli. Sheryl went back to work in the late 1980's at Wal Mart; she retired after 18 years and made many good friends there over the years.

Sheryl volunteered in many capacities in her church and community: she taught Sunday School, was a 4-H leader, Prayer Partner at St. John's Lutheran Church, and was a Floyd Valley Hospital Auxiliary member where she made and donated many baby blankets. She also participated in 'Do Days' at St. John's where she would help make quilts.

Sheryl enjoyed sewing, reading, and gardening in her flower gardens. She enjoyed listening to Christian music and loved going dancing with Warren. Her family meant the world to her, especially her grandchildren. Sheryl loved when the grandchildren came to visit on the farm; feeding cows, searching for kittens, and walking to the pond. She loved cheering them on at all their sporting games and made a t-shirt quilt for each grandchild for graduation. Sheryl was so thankful for her faith, family, and friends.

Sheryl is survived by her husband of 58 years, Warren; four children: Jeff (Mickey) Oetken of Houston, TX, Lori Oetken of Sioux City, IA, Stacie Schultz of Lake City, IA, and Kelli (Will) Wilson of Dakota Dunes, SD; grandchildren: Whitney (Cooper Schuh) Oetken, Logan (Jalisa) Oetken, Sydnie (Tyler) O'Tool, Madison (Dylan Scheffler) Schultz, Parker Moss, Preston Moss, Simion Wilson, Will Wilson Jr., Tyson Wilson, and Brooke (Tommy) Moreland; sisters in law: Kathleen Kruse and Hyon Sik Schulz; many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her parents; parents in law, George and Clara Oetken; brother, Gary; siblings in law: Beverly (Tom) Held, and Alwayne Oetken.
