Stanley R. Anderson, 93 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022 with a Remembrance Service at 3:00 p.m.,
all at Rexwinkel Funeral Home, Akron, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be provided to the family

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts preferred to Village Northwest, Unlimited (Sheldon, IA) or the Dr. Ponseti
Foundation, University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital (Iowa City, Iowa).

Stanley R. Anderson, 93, of Akron, Iowa passed away October 11, 2022, at the Akron Care Center. Stanley,
the son of Ernest and Anna Anderson, was born in the living room of his childhood family home, on the
farm where he would spend nearly 90 of his 93 years. Stanley attended Akron High School from where he
graduated in 1946. Stanley married Janet McCarthy on March 24, 1952. Soon thereafter, they moved to
North Carolina, where the new couple enjoyed starting their life together while Stanley served in the United
States Marine Corps. Both commented often about the wonderful people they met and the great experiences they had during this time.

Following an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, the couple returned to Iowa and began farming
southeast of Akron where they brought out the best in each other every day. Stanley's passion for farming
started at a young age and continued throughout his lifetime as he worked side by side with his father and
his brother, Milton. Stanley took great pride in caring for his new herd of feeder calves each year,
welcoming them to their new home from the ranges of Montana and South Dakota. He loved being in the
field during planting and harvesting seasons. He nurtured his crops with great care and sought to rid them
of every weed, especially his most despised, the button weed! Navigating his John Deere tractors, while
pulling their companion implements through the rolling hills, was more than enough to bring him the
greatest of joy and happiness. The Anderson farm was recognized as a Century Farm in 2019 at the Iowa
State Fair. Stanley was particularly well-suited for his role as a seed corn and soybean seed sales person.
Visiting with his customers brought him deep satisfaction. Stanley enjoyed being a 4-H leader and teaching
young future farmers how to do things the right way.

Stanley loved spending time with his family. He was fully committed to Janet, his wife of nearly 70 years.
Together, they raised three sons on the farm, all of whom helped with the work by mowing grass, doing
field work, baling hay, walking beans and raising cattle. Stanley enjoyed the simple pleasures in life with
family while doing things such as, having coffee and treats after church, attending gatherings at Gavin's
Point Dam in Yankton, riding the tractors and hauling cattle in the truck, among many others. Stanley
deeply loved his two grandchildren, Paul, and Emily. He relished the time he spent with them on the farm
while they were "helping" Grandpa when riding in the tractor or combine. Special memories for Paul
include several trips to Green Bay with both of his grandpas to watch Packer games and surprising Grandpa
with unannounced visits at the care center. For Emily, it was playing family games and just hanging out at
the farm. And, of course, both loved getting take-home dinner from Pizza Ranch.

Stanley kept his family and friends entertained with his dry and witty sense of humor. His warm and
endearing heart nurtured and welcomed all into his world, whether a lifetime friend or someone he just met.
He had a knack for being deeply interested in others and was always willing to offer his help to anyone in
need. He was an ardent supporter of Akron-Westfield High School sports, particularly the softball team,
making several bus trips to Fort Dodge for state tournament games.

Stanley was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith and was a lifetime member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Akron, serving in many capacities including the church council. He and Janet were
charter members of and active in the YoMaCos (Young Married Couples) for over 50 years. Stanley will be
most remembered for his love of family, sense of humor, enjoying time with friends and meeting new
people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children: Bradley (Mary) and Chace (Barb), two grandchildren, Paul and Emily
Anderson, and many special nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Stanley was preceded in death
by his wife, Janet Anderson, his son Warren Anderson, his parents, Ernest and Anna Anderson, his brothers
Henry, Russell and Milton Anderson and his sister LaVerne Dowling, and many other special relatives and
lifelong friends.

Stanley's family wishes to extend special thanks to always-ready-to-help nephew Morey Anderson and to
dear friends and neighbors; Kevin and Sandi DeRocher, Gloria and Lou Kingma, Dave and Valerie Appley
and each of their families. Much appreciation is also extended to the caring and dedicated professionals at
the Akron Care Center, St. Croix Hospice and the medical staff at the Akron Mercy Medical Clinic.
