Obituary

Suzanne Mills, 74, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Marie Lykken, Chaplain from Hospice of Siouxland will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.  Visitation with the family present will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship, all at Rexwinkel Funeral Home.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Suzanne Jane Winkler, the daughter of Edward E. and Wilma (Shriver) Winkler, was born on January 25, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She grew up in Sioux City and attended school at Sioux City East.

She was united in marriage to Harold Mills on September 2, 1967, in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  Early on, they lived throughout the Midwest before finally settling back in Sioux City.  Harold passed away on June 16, 2007.

Suzanne worked at Aalfs Manufacturing in Sioux City for 22 years.  She then worked as a certified med aide for Holy Spirit Nursing Home in Sioux City until her retirement in 2015.  After retiring, she moved to Le Mars.  In 2022, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.  She enjoyed the staff and residents at Good Sam.

She enjoyed knitting, reading about American history, and doing genealogy. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle (Tim) Rolfes of Le Mars, IA; two grandchildren:  Ashley (Dylan) Bosch of Eagle Grove, IA, and their children, John and David; and Nick (Leslie) Rolfes of Sioux City, IA, and their son, Wesley; and her faithful companion, "Max".

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward E. and Wilma Winkler; and her siblings: Elaine Winkler, Margaret Rice, and Michael Winkler.
