Thomas "Tom" Britt , 79, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Le Mars surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Reverend Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass with Reverend Paul Eisele concelebrating. Deacon Paul Gengler will be assisting. Burial with military honors provided by the American Legion Wasmer Post 241 of Le Mars will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Tom's name to the Plymouth County Fair and Gehlen Catholic School.

Thomas Aloysius Britt, the son of Aloys and Elizabeth (Baldes) Britt, was born July 27, 1943, in Le Mars, Iowa. He attended school in Plymouth County and graduated from Union Consolidated High School in 1961.

Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Guard. He was activated during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Clovis, New Mexico. Following his discharge, he returned to Plymouth County.

He was united in marriage to Hope Ahmann on November 25, 1967, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Dave, Denise, and Beth. The couple made their home on a farm in Plymouth County where they farmed and raised livestock. Tom also worked as a crop insurance adjuster for many years. Hope passed away November 20, 1983.

On June 1, 1991, he married Diane Juelfs-Grosskopf in Montana. Tom continued to farm and make his home in Plymouth County. He continued to enjoy farming up until the day he passed.

Tom was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. He was also a member of the American Legion Wasmer Post 241 in Le Mars and helped with military honors for many veterans. He was a 4-H Youth Committee member and later became a member of the Plymouth County Fair Board, where he was a former board president. He was active in the Abu Bekr Shriners for many years and enjoyed participating with the White Horse Mounted Patrol. He enjoyed fishing and taking many trips with his friends. He also enjoyed skiing in his younger years. His family was his greatest joy, he loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Diane of Le Mars, IA; a son: Dave Britt (Sherry Hill) of Le Mars, IA, and his children, Nicholle Britt, Aaron Britt, and Anna Britt and Sherry's daughter, Kate Hill; a daughter: Denise (Shawn) Woodward of Olathe, KS; a daughter: Beth (Lynn) Wold of Le Mars, IA, and their children, Carson Sitzmann, McKenna Sitzmann, Landon Wold, and Parker Wold; a step daughter: Shawn Marie Lenz of Doylestown, PA, and her children, Zane Baker and Zach Baker; a step son: Scott Grosskopf of Billings, MT, and his son, Sterling Grosskopf; a step son: Gary (Kim) Grosskopf of Peoria, AZ, and their children, Laiken and Corbin; 3 siblings: Kathleen Rounds of Huntsville, AL, Dan (Deb) Britt of Wentworth, SD, and Arlan (Sandy) Britt of Le Mars, IA; and several in laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloys and Elizabeth Britt; his stepfather, Gilbert "Gib" Parry; his wife, Hope Britt; and a step grandson, Logan Wold.
