Thomas Borchers, 71, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Graveside service will at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Craig, Iowa.  Reverend Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate.  Military honors will be provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of Le Mars.  There will be procession of classic cars led by the American Legion Riders to the cemetery.  They will be leaving the Y.M.C.A. parking lot at 5:00 p.m.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Thomas Linn Borchers was born August 26, 1950 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Eilert and Leona (Marienau) Borchers.  He grew up on a farm between Brunsville and Craig.  At the age of 10, he and his mother moved to Le Mars after the tragic passing of his father.  He continued his schooling in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1969.  Tom enlisted in the United States Air National Guard where he served until his honorable discharge.

He was united in marriage to Janet Harrison on August 11, 1972 in Elk Point, South Dakota.  The couple made their home in Le Mars.  Tom owned and operated TLB Supply, a welding and shop company, in Le Mars.  He also worked in the summer months for Terra Industries in Sioux City.  Most recently, he worked as a courier for American Bank in Le Mars.  For the past several years, he and Jan enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona.

Tom enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing golf with his brother in law, Bob.  He also enjoyed watching Western movies, basketball, and football.   Most of all he, he loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Jan of Le Mars; his daughter, Amy (Andre) Skov of Le Mars, IA; 4 grandchildren: Lexa (Pierce), Luke, Metta, and Mya; 3 stepchildren: Vicky Arens of Le Mars, Scott Lauters (Julie Weiler) of Le Mars, and Beth Edmonds of Le Mars; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 sisters in law: Karen Roche and Dorothy Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eilert Borchers and Leona Borchers Ludwigs; his stepfather, William G. Ludwigs; his father and mother in law, Eugene and Amelia Harrison; his brother, Arlen Borchers; and his in laws: Leonard (Alice) Harrison, Merlin (LaVon) Harrison, Wilma (Ervan) Maseun, and Robert (Mary) Harrison.
