Thomas 'Tommy' Toben, 28 of Westfield, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Thomas Tyler Toben was born in Yekaterinburg, Russia on May 25, 1997. His parents, Russ and Joyce (Pridie) Toben, adopted Tommy from an orphanage near the Ural Mountains in Russia when he was 22 months old. Once he was home in Iowa, he thrived. Since day one, he was such a busy boy! At the age of four, he started his wrestling career. Wrestling was a sport he loved and met so many great people through.

Tommy attended and graduated from Akron-Westfield High School in 2016. During school he wrestled and played football. Tommy was a member at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. After he graduated, Tommy attended Iowa State University for 1.5 years and one semester at DMACC. Tommy worked for a short time at Masterworks (Polaris) in Vermillion but primarily worked for Nor-Am Cold Storage in Le Mars. Tommy was always a hard worker, working summers since he was in 8th grade.

Tommy enjoyed wrestling and weightlifting - he was extremely dedicated to the sport and the discipline he learned continued through his life. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes wrestling team. He loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Tess. He enjoyed watching movies and always had a movie one liner, or a good joke, to tell. Tommy was a quick witted and kindhearted young man. Tommy adored his niece, Kassidy, and she adored him right back. They had a special bond that could never be broken. They enjoyed playing their guitars together, building tent forts, playing football and whatever she "told" him to do.  He never told her "no" and most of all, he loved spending time with his little Kassidy.

Tommy is survived by his parents, Russ and Joyce; sister, Krystal (Jacob) Biehle; niece, Kassidy Biehle; grandmothers: Alyce Toben and Marlene Pridie; aunts and uncles: Laura (Matt) Philips, Joe (Laura) Toben, Robert (Staci) Pridie, Joanne (Randy) Waterbury, Patrick (Yvonne) Pridie, Janelle (Doug) Dickman, Jennifer (Mike) Schultejans, Jacqueline (Steve) Carlson, Eugene Pridie, and Jodi (Curt) Meier; numerous cousins and other extended relatives.

Tommy is preceded in death by his sister, Rachael Rose Toben; grandfathers: Marvin Toben and Robert D. Pridie; and aunt, Jeanne (Pridie) Parker.
