Travis Nathanial Tentinger, the son of Larry and Beth (Waterbury) Tentinger, was born on March 27, 1971, in Akron, Iowa. Travis attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron-Westfield High School in 1990. After graduation, he began working at Wells' Dairy in Le Mars. He worked as an operator, a.k.a., jack of all trades! He was still employed with them at the time of his death.
On May 1, 1999, he was united in marriage to Melanie Gabel. They later divorced.
Travis was blessed with four children, Laura, Brandon, Brett, and Megan. He would move heaven and earth for them. He also found out that grandkids were even better!
He was always willing to lend a helping hand. If he found out that someone was in need, he would do whatever he could for them. He also had a knack for finding "unique" gifts for friends and family.
His number one passion was fishing. Not only fishing but teaching his kids and grandkid how to fish. The annual fishing outing, "Skilly Slam," was the one event he did not miss.
He spent many hours gleaning deals for cars. Purchasing a number of them. He and Brett made many trips to look at cars. His last purchases were a Dodge Stealth and a Ford Fusion (hoping Megan would drive it)! If the Green Bay Packers were playing, you could find him watching. He may have enjoyed that as much as watching his kids in their activities.
Survivors include his father, Larry (Darlene) Tentinger of Sioux Falls, SD; his mother, Beth (Dale) Sykes of Helena, MT; his children: Laura Tentinger (Jesse Dorn), Brandon Tentinger (Jerrica DeGroot), Brett Tentinger, and Megan Tentinger; his grandsons: Charlie and Colt Tentinger and two yet to be born; his sisters: Missy (Eric) Torbert of Terre Haute, IN, and Amanda Tentinger of Pierson, IA; his biological father, Brian (Kim) McKee of Akron; and other family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Helen Tentinger, Floyd and Genevieve Waterbury, and Clyde and Imogene McKee.
