Valerie Gist, 66 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Floyd Valley Healthcare of Le Mars.

Valerie Pearl Gist was born on November 13, 1954 to James and Annetta (Leetch) Gist in Mapleton, Iowa. Valerie's family traveled all over the United States, primarily the South and West Coast, while James worked as a welder and was in the military. After completing school, Valerie worked in a variety of jobs including being a certified nursing assistant, at a fishery, and in retail. Valerie moved back to Iowa in 1988 and has lived in Le Mars for the last 13 years.

Valerie enjoyed watching TV, especially soap operas, and spending time with her dogs, Zeus and Bailey. Valerie loved holidays and decorating for the different holidays, specifically Christmas. She also enjoyed planting flowers and reading.

Valerie is survived by her son, Matthew Gist of Le Mars, IA her two sisters: Del (Jeff) Gist of Portland, OR, and Etta Snodgrass of Coquille, OR; uncle, Charles (Ermie) Leetch in Las Vegas; niece, Melody; great niece, Kyra and her son, Elias; great nephew, Jericho; and other extended relatives.

Valerie is preceded in death by her parents, James Gist and Annetta Gist; and her uncle, Donald Leetch.
