Vera was united in marriage to William 'Bill' Manley on October 17, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa. They moved to Sheldon for a short time before making their home in Akron, Iowa in 1956.

Vera was a devoted wife and mother; her family was her world and she cherished them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful hostess and her 'family' extended to friends, neighbors, and anyone who entered her home. Vera primarily stayed home with her children, but she also babysat for other neighborhood children. She also was a custodian at the school in Akron for many years.

When their children were young, Bill and Vera loved to take them camping. Bill and Vera often traveled for his work and they also wintered in Texas for over 20 years. Vera enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home in Akron, especially when she got to call Bingo. She loved having coffee with her close group of friends and some of them even traveled to Europe together a few times.

Vera was a great cook and made the best Christmas candies and sweets. She loved to quilt, do word searches, and play computer games.

Vera was a long-time, devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron where she was also a member of Catholic Daughters.

Vera is survived by her six children: Dale Manley of Struble, IA, Cyndi (Tom) Sprung of Evergreen, CO, Michelle (Tom) Burns of Le Mars, IA, Bernie (Lisa) Manley of Omaha, NE, Doug (Crystal) Manley of Akron, IA, and Mary (Jason) Boehme of Ireton, IA; 14 grandchildren: Aaron (Karolyn) Manley, Ashley (Dan) Bettschen, Nicolas Sprung, Nathan (Sally) Sprung, Noah (Dustin) Sprung, Reva Burns, Carly (Brady) Nelson, Lauren Manley, Grahm (Shaelyn) Manley, Kayla (Jerod) Bruget, Kashe (Chris) Utesch, Dan (Nancy) Hasenbank, Cara (Chasen) Voltzow, and Hannah Boehme; 20 great grandchildren; sister in law, Frances Pranke: numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
