Versella "Sally" Grasz , 89, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Versella June Swisher was born September 30, 1932 in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Carrie (Karley) Swisher.  She went to country school in Plymouth County until the 8 ^th grade.  At that time, she took care of babies and their family.  Later in life, she worked at the overall jean factory and her helped her mom after work at the restaurant in Hinton.

One day, she was walking down the street in Le Mars and young gentleman named Norman asked her out.  They were married on November 13, 1951.  They were married just one month and then Norman was sent to Korea during the Korean War.  Sally continued to work at the overall factory and paid room and board while Norman was serving.  Once he returned, she had saved enough money for a down payment for a house in Le Mars.  Later, they saved enough to buy their first farm.

Sally worked very hard on the farm, she fed livestock, drove tractor, and did fieldwork while Norman dug wells.  She also drove the tractor with two wagons of corn for 10 miles, unloaded, and then back again.  Sally was small in stature but as strong as any man.

Norman passed away on October 22, 2004 in Le Mars.  Sally continued to make her home in Le Mars until 2014, when she moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to her family.

Sally loved to play cards and really enjoyed company, especially her great grandchildren.  She was a beautiful lady and taught us all how to be strong.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Debra Feauto; her grandchildren, Lee (Nicole) Harding and Ryan Feauto, all of Sioux Falls, SD; her great grandchildren: Ava, Rory, and Gift Harding; a sister, Lucille Carlson of Beresford, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Grasz; a son, Bobby Joe Grasz in infancy; her parents, John and Carrie Swisher; a son in law, Don Feauto; and her siblings: Edna Swisher, Evelyn (Eddie) Anderson, John Swisher, Alverna (Marvin) Marienau, Opal (Don) Henke, and Bill (Marge) Swisher.
