Victoria "Vickie" Ott , 91, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Reverend Tim Geitz will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present after 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church and/or Hospice of Siouxland.
Victoria Louise Kuttler was born June 8, 1927 on a farm southeast of Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Jakob and Elise (Wittel) Kuttler. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. She attended grade school at Remsen #3 and later high school in Remsen. She graduated from Remsen High School in 1945. She worked in Wayne, Nebraska until September of 1946, when she returned to Remsen and worked at Crawford's Variety.
She was united in marriage to Donald Ott on January 22, 1947 at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. They farmed south of Remsen until December of 1959, when they moved to Le Mars. She then worked part time at the Club Café and 23 years at the Sears Catalog office and 5 years at Meis Seed and Feed.
After retirement, she enjoyed helping Don with their flower beds and in his wood shop and with various other crafts. They enjoyed many bus tours, playing cards with family and friends, and also visiting with their extended family. Don passed away July 24, 2008.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She was very active in Sarah Circle of the L.W.M.L. She was also a Plymouth Manor Promoter and enjoyed visiting many nursing homes in the area. She was also a member of the Floyd Valley Hospital Auxiliary, where she embroidered many tea towels.
Survivors include 2 sons: Duane (Mary) Ott of Sioux City, IA, and David (Lavonne) Ott of Le Mars; a daughter: Donna (Russell) Schmidt of Craig, IA; 10 grandchildren: Michael (Courtney) Ott, Sarah (Michael) Archer, Matthew Ott, Julie Ott, Tammy (Rich) Sudtelgte, Justin (Alicia) Ott, Sheila (Shawn) Sypersma, Jon (Amy) Schmidt, Adam (Amy) Schimdt, and Andy (Kari) Schmidt; 22 great grandchildren; a sister in law: Colleen Ott of Remsen, IA; a brother in law: Curtis (Doris) Ott of Kingsley, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jakob and Elise Kuttler; her husband, Don Ott; her father and mother in law: John and Anna Ott; 2 sisters: Hilda (Arnold) Mohning and Margaret (Merlin) Mohning; and her brother in law: Arnold Ott.
