Martin 'Marty' Arens, 87 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his home in Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday April 4 th , 2018 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a 5:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary, and a 7:00 p.m. Scriptural Prayer Service all on Tuesday, April 3 rd , 2018 at St. Joseph's Church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Martin Nicholas Arens was born March 5, 1931 in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Martin and Elizabeth (Schiltz) Arens.  He grew up in Le Mars and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School.  During his high school years, Marty excelled on the basketball  court earning himself a full ride scholarship to Regis College in Colorado.  During his first year of college his father passed away and Marty returned home to help his family.  He was united in marriage to Donna Wiebersch on August 19, 1952 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars.  Marty owned and operated Arens Painting, Inc. along with his brother Tom and his sons for many years. Marty was a long time member of All Saints Parish – St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council #1466. In his spare time he enjoyed going on fishing trips, playing cards and gardening with family and friends.  Most of all, he cherished his family.

He is survived by his children: Mike (Renee) Arens of Mason City, IA, Dorothy Arens of Le Mars, IA, Dave Arens of Le Mars, IA, Pat (Geoff) Price of Le Mars, IA, Mary Carlson of Westbrook, MN, Steve Arens (Delores Lancaster) of Le Mars, IA, Paul Arens of Le Mars, IA, Karen Aber (Mark Hallberg) of Bloomington, MN, Barb (Brian) Williams of Des Moines, IA, Martha (Rod) Toben of Le Mars, IA, and Ellen Arens (Rob Wooten) of Sioux City, IA; 28 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a brother: Tom (Marlene) Arens of Le Mars, IA; two sisters-in-law: Marietta Alesch of Remsen, IA, and Katherine Wiebersch of Dubuque, IA; brother in law: Tim (Donna) Wiebersch of Dubuque, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna on June 30, 2016; a son, Bill Arens;  his parents, Martin and Elizabeth Arens;  his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Grace Wiebersch;  four brothers;  and five sisters.
